Good value, minor setup friction

I picked up the Tailscale Starter plan for a small project team. The annual billing discount made it quite affordable compared to other options we looked at. The core functionality, like Tailscale SSH and Subnet Routers, worked as advertised and really streamlined our access. Setting up the Tailscale Client on various operating systems was mostly smooth, but I did hit a snag getting one of the Linux machines to connect properly at first, which took a bit of digging in the docs. Customer service was responsive, though, and helped me sort it out. Overall, it's a solid service for the price, but the initial learning curve could be a bit gentler for less tech-savvy users.

Easy to get going

I heard about Tailscale from a friend and decided to try it out for my home network. I needed something to access my home server when I was out and about. The Tailscale Personal plan was free for what I needed, which was awesome. Setting it up on my Synology NAS and my laptop was surprisingly straightforward. I had it all connected in like 15 minutes. It just worked, which is always nice when dealing with network stuff. Really happy with it, honestly.

Free plan is great

I was looking for a way to connect my devices securely without spending a fortune, and Tailscale came up. The free-forever tier for up to 3 users and 100 devices sounded too good to be true, but it's not! I set up Tailscale on my phone, laptop, and desktop. I can now access my files at home from anywhere, which is super convenient. I didn't pay a dime, and it does exactly what I need. Definitely worth checking out if you're on a budget and need secure access.

Consistent performance, useful features

I've been a Tailscale user for a while now, primarily on the free Personal plan, but I recently tried the Mullvad Add-on. This experience was just as consistent as my previous interactions. Performance has always been reliable, and connecting new devices is still a breeze. The Mullvad integration worked seamlessly, adding another layer of privacy that I appreciate. It's why I keep coming back; the service is dependable and they keep adding useful features without making things complicated.

Works well, simple setup

Used Tailscale to connect my home devices. Setup was quick. Tailscale for macOS and iOS worked perfectly. Accessed my server from my phone. No issues, very stable.

Thinking about getting Tailscale for my small business, but wondering about payment options. Do they do PayPal or is it just credit card?

C Colin 2 months ago
Pretty sure it's mostly credit card stuff. Haven't seen PayPal as an option myself when I signed up.

I paid with a credit card, don't remember seeing PayPal but I wasn't really looking for it. Might be worth checking their site though.

Hey, I'm looking at Tailscale for my homelab setup. How many devices can I actually link up on the free plan? Like, is it enough for a few VMs, my phone, and a laptop?

C Chris 1 month ago
Yeah, the free tier is pretty generous. I think it's like 100 devices and 3 users. Should be plenty for a homelab.

It's 100 devices and 3 users. I'm using it for my whole family's stuff, phones, tablets, laptops, and a couple of servers, no problem at all.
